The Annies!!!!

It was my first time going to the Annies and it was great! I got to root on 2 of my fellow animators on for "Best Individual achievement in character animation", got to hob knob with C list celebrities, and took full advantage of the open bar. Ratatouille steam rolled us with God knows how many wins, but Surf's Up stole 2 away from Pixar. Anyways, it was a lot of fun and I am looking forward to next years.
Here are some pics from the night...

We we're too shy/not drunk enough to ask for a pic with Glen Keen, so Keith and David got a pic with him in the background.

Surf's Up nominated for Best Animated Feature!!!!

Surf's Up got an Academy Award nomination for Best Animated Feature, 10 Annie Award nominations, and 4 VES Award nominations! We're up against some great animated features, but I still think we have a chance. Every body part of mine that can be crossed, is crossed. The above picture is currently running in The Hollywood Reporter and Daily Variety.

Storyboards are done!!!!!!

I spent the last 5 1/2 hours at the coffee shop drawing until my butt went numb to finish all my boards up for "I *HEART* Dogs". It feels really good to actually get it done. I think it turned out to be about 120 drawings in all and so far the animatic runs about 1:45...which is longer than what I was shooting for, but hey, that's what editing is for, right? Anyways, next on the list is to finish up the animatic with rough sound effects and show it to friends and get feed back. After that I gotta find people to help me out with rigging and modeling. Know anyone?

workin' on a short...

Like everyone else and their brother, I am currently working on a short in my spare time, called “I *heart* Dogs”...I wish I could figure out how to make that stupid heart symbol... Anyways, I am sooooo close to having my storyboards done and lately I've been watching some of my favorite shorts to kinda inspire my ass into gear. I've been watching these alot lately... Special Delivery by John Weldon and Eunice Macaulay, The Cat Came Back by Cordell Baker, and Family Dog by Brad Bird.
